2010 Craft Sale

On November 20th the high school class sold tye dye socks at the annual Baldwin Christian School craft sale. We tye dyed the socks a week prior to the sale, and had lots of fun. We made about $230.00. We would like to thank the Orthodox Presbyterian Church for letting us use their facility. We still have more socks for sale if anyone would like to buy some.

Busy but fun day!

October 29th was probably the busiest day we’ve had this year in the Baldwin Christian School High School. Okay, that’s a bit of a mouthful; let’s just call it Dokime. On October 29th, we had the three most important events of the month: The annual 5k run, the Speech Meet Awards Ceremony, and the Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF).

The 5k was fun, as always. 3.1 miles is a long way to go, but we made it eventually. We were able to get through the run knowing there was an arsenal of scrumptious food! As for the Awards Ceremony, we were simply relieved to be done. You see, the day before, we had what we called “The First Annual Speech Meet”. Basically, we had to memorize a 3-5 minute speech, and recite it to our school and a group of judges. This required a lot of work, and was entirely nerve-racking! Obviously, after we had finished, it was a major relief. The judges had analyzed the speeches, and announced the winners in the ceremony. 1st place went to Stephen Hokanson, 2nd place went to Karsten Halverson, and Aaron Rens took 3rd (I’m Aaron, but I figured I should specify). The PTF was exciting, to say the least. The Swanson family was kind enough to host it, so I thank them profusely! We enjoyed socializing, hayrides, glow sticks, and sneaking around in the woods. Yeah… I’m not sure why the last one fun, but believe me, it was!

Three major events in one day is a lot, but guess what, we’ve only just begun! October’s gone, but here comes November. The school year has only just begun. It has much more work and fun in store for all of us. So tighten your tie, zip up your backpack, and hold on, cause kids, we’re off!  --  Aaron Rens

5-Kernal Run

On October 29, 2010 the High School ran their 5K.  The day was beautiful for running.  Many friends and family members came and participated with us.  After we finished the run we went inside and enjoyed snacks and drinks.  Overall it was fun.

Tabernacle Trip

On September 24, 2010 we went to the Teen's for Christ tabernacle exhibit.  The tabernacle is a replica as depictd in Exodus chapters 25-33.  The tour guide was knowledgeable and enthusiasic in his presentation and tour.  We learned many things we didn't know before.  For instance, the items in the tent of meeting were positioned in the shape of the cross and every single piece of furnitue points to Jesus.  All in all the trip was most enjoyable and well worth the time.
